Assistant Prosecuting Attorney: Family Division – Berrien County

TITLE:   Assistant Prosecuting Attorney: Family Division ($57,563 – $102,831)

DEPARTMENT:   Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office

Become part of a team to help youth reach their full potential. You will help to change the lives of juveniles in our community whether it be setting them on a better path through delinquency proceedings or by ensuring that they have a safe and appropriate home through neglect/abuse court.

Make the community safer through collaboration with other community partners.  Together, you will develop and implement new methods to handle juvenile delinquency matters and develop proactive programs to prevent youth from becoming involved in the justice system.  Work inside and outside the courthouse to help with youth that have become involved in the justice system. 

As a Family Division Prosecutor, you will be working with a team of Prosecutors handling juvenile delinquency and neglect/abuse matters under the supervision of the Family Division Chief.  You will work with law enforcement, the Michigan Department of Health and Human services, and the Family Division Court to collaborate on the best possible services for juveniles.  You will exercise a considerable amount of independent judgement throughout each stage of the process.  In addition, many trainings are offered to enhance knowledge and skills to best handle these cases. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from law school is required

Experience: No prior experience is required.  Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.  Benefits included upon starting date.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

A member of the State Bar of Michigan. If awaiting bar results, applicant may be hired in pending passage of bar exam.
