Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – Midland County

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney I or II (depending on experience)

Under the supervision of the Prosecutor and the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, reviews and authorizes requests for warrants, determines the appropriate charge, and prosecutes criminal cases. Is assigned criminal cases in the District Court and may be assigned delinquency cases and child protective proceedings in the Circuit Court-Family Division. Assists with a felony caseload and with other matters as assigned, including appellate work. Attempts to resolve and adjudicate assigned criminal cases and prosecutes cases in court.

Juris Doctorate Degree and experience as a prosecuting attorney or equivalent criminal or appellate court experience preferred. The County, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience including internships. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan, or seeking eligibility for admission to the State Bar of Michigan this year, and pass a criminal background check.

Salary determined based on experience with an expected starting range from $65,000 to $86,000 plus a competitive fringe benefit package.
