Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – Menominee County

General job duties may include:  Prosecuting misdemeanor criminal cases, juvenile delinquency matters, abuse and/or neglect matters, as well as drafting and arguing motions and conducting other formal hearings.  Applicant will also be required to negotiate plea agreements in accordance with office policies, but will be given freedom to exercise discretion in appropriate situations and make independent decisions.  Applicant must also be proficient in legal research and writing, and will be required to review police reports and search warrants, and advise law enforcement agencies and officers on legal issues.

Required Education and Experience: Juris Doctor degree with a Certificate of Admittance to the State Bar of Michigan as evidence of continued good professional standing and authority to practice law throughout the state.

 One year of criminal or family court (abuse/neglect) experience preferred, but recent law school graduates with an interest in criminal prosecution are encouraged to apply.  

Starting salary for 2019 is $48,000 - $50,000, DOE.  This is a full-time position; a comprehensive benefit package, including health insurance, is part of the compensation.
