Assistant Prosecuting Attorney II- Wayne County
The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney II will review and authorize requests for warrants, determine the appropriate charge and prosecute misdemeanor, felony, and juvenile cases with minimal supervision. Qualified candidates will have diverse experience in neglect/abuse, juvenile and assaultive cases; and will have experience in prosecuting complex and difficult cases.
QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctorate Degree; must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Michigan; at least 3 years of trial experience.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES: Interview victims of crime and law enforcement officials requesting warrants; exercise discretion in determining the appropriateness of charges and authorize warrants.
Analyze police reports, case investigations, laboratory reports, witness statements and identification records. Interview witnesses, issue investigative subpoenas and conduct hearings; request further investigation when necessary.
Handle assignments in all courts which include: Circuit, District, Juvenile and Probate. Prepare for trials and court proceedings. Draft briefs and legal memoranda. Conduct complex felony trials, preliminary examinations, pretrials and evidentiary hearings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
