Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney- Kalkaska County
Kalkaska County is seeking a licensed attorney to fill the role of Chief Assistant Prosecutor.
Job Description: Works under the direction of the elected prosecutor to perform essential prosecutorial functions. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing police reports and making charging decisions
- Appearing in Circuit, District, and Probate Court as needed
- Engaging in plea negotiations
- Preparing for and conducting jury trials
- Researching, writing, and arguing of various motions
- Answering questions from law enforcement about legal issues
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. Prior experience in criminal law is preferred, but not required. This is a full time, in person position.
Compensation: $59,000 annual salary plus benefits (including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid vacation).
