Chief Assistant Prosecutor – Kalkaska County

Kalkaska County is seeking a licensed attorney to fill the role of Chief Assistant Prosecutor.

Job Description: Works under the direction of the elected prosecutor to perform essential
prosecutorial functions. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
– Reviewing police reports and making charging decisions
– Appearing in Circuit, District, and Probate Court as needed
– Engaging in plea negotiations
– Preparing for and conducting jury trials
– Researching, writing, and arguing of various motions
– Answering questions from law enforcement about legal issues

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State
of Michigan. Prior experience in criminal law is preferred, but not required. This is a full time, in
person position.

Compensation: $61,000 annual salary plus benefits (including medical, dental, vision,
retirement, and paid vacation)
