Victim Services Training Unit

About Us

The primary focus of PAAM’s Victim Services Training Unit (VSTU) is to provide statewide specialized training for prosecutor victim advocates, assistant prosecutors, and prosecutors. The training focuses on issues related to victim advocacy and strategies for prosecutors to support victims as they exercise their rights under the Michigan Crime Victim Rights Act and Michigan Constitution. The VSTU also assists prosecutors and victim advocates in researching and discussing important legal issues that arise as victims move through the criminal justice system. Through a grant from the Division of Victim Services of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the VSTU provides many in-person and web-based trainings, as well as a variety of written materials, to assist prosecutors’ offices in serving victims with compassion and respect. In addition, the VSTU works hand in hand with prosecutor victim advocates and other partners to bring awareness to victims’ rights issues.
